Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Erika: Schubert's dynamics range from scream to whisper
not loud to soft. Anarchy hardly seems your forte.
Why not stick to Clementi? Schubert was quite ugly.
Did you know? With your looks, nothing can ever hurt you.

Yeah no kidding, Erika. Look like that and you get to make babies with Juliette Binoche! Speaking of, a happy 38th birthday to Benoît Magimel! Here are a couple shirtless pictures of him I found from a 2010 movie called Little White Lies...

... that co-stars Jean Dujardin and Gilles Lellouche - aka those two who were having hot swarthy gay sex in that other movie - and was directed by Guillaume Canet, who we recently devoted a nice big gratuitous post to. That must have been a hot set to be on, for god's sake! Anybody seen it?

oh, how i adore that movie. i mean, is it the right feeling, the right word? should i feel that way?
oh well, speaking of magnificent isabelle huppert (yes, i know you weren't actually mentioning her in this post but the gorgeous magimel), yesterday i caught that "law & order: SVU" episode with isabelle in it. to be clear, me watching SVU has been purely an unhealthy habit for years (love me some meloni, ice-t and belzer). but this episode was so beyond awful and pathetic, most bizarre thing i've seen on tv in a long long time. what possessed her to take that role, i'm just baffled.

the best thing about this movie (which is easy since it's not a very good movie) is that Benoît plays a gay man in it!

Wow, what a coincidence! Just saw the movie for a 2nd time yesterday. The first time for me is WTF? The second time gives me a better sense of the characters and the music. For me it's a treat because I'm a classical musician, and to see a movie/book uses my favorite composer's music to show someone's psychological state is amazing! Isn't Isabelle Huppert the most fierce actress around (alongside Gainsbourg)? She was superb in White Material as well. Is it wrong to wish I want a student like Benoit? :)

marshall1, i'm a bit jelaous of you now cause i believe it's really more powerful and special experience to watch it as an classical musician. ;)
i watched it twice, as well, and it's one of those movies you just don't want to see too often, it would damage you. but hey, that's haneke. (not sure if i ever wanna revisit "funny games".) for me it's probably the closest thing to get punched in the stomach (not that i ever was, but i guess).
and i agree, isabelle huppert is one of the fiercest actresses out there (beatrice dalle comes to mind, as well), and this particular role is maybe my favorite female role ever.

yeah maja, I would say after watching this movie, it really puts me in a shitty mood...haha
And very funny that the Erika's favorite composers are Schubert (a symbol of melancholia) and Schumann (who went crazy and died in an asylum). Also, I've read a pianist's interview that talked about the Schubert sonata that Benoit played (the slow movement) in which she said the middle section (which unfortunately did not play) was close to someone losing their mind.

Love the punching in the stomach metaphor:) I do want to visit Cache though.

well, that sounds fascinating and intruiging. you definitely got me in the mood for some schubert. :)
and all this talking about the movie reminded me it's high time to finally read jelinek's novel. i've borrowed it from the library at least three times and never read it. silly me :)
oh, cache. ashamed to admit it, but i haven't seen it yet.
