--- Eli, Eli, Lema Sabachthani? - The best horror film of 2008, and the 2nd best movie of the year (
so says me)
Let the Right One In, is out on DVD March 10th, and
BD has a deleted scene from the movie. What new wacky hijinks are Oskar up to now? Have I mentioned often enough that you need to see this movie? You really need to see this movie.
--- Dushku Clout - Apparantly it's a real thing!
According to DH Eliza is using her "clout" to actually for reals get that Robert Mapplethorpe movie starring her gay brother made. Huh.
--- Mars & The Nothing - Two annoying bits of remake news today - they're
going to remake Total Recall ("Twooooo weeeks! Twooooo weeeeks!") and they're
going to remake The Neverending Story. Blurgh squared.
--- Hot Topic of the Day - Apparently everybody's ruminating on the question "Where are the lead female roles in Pixar movies?" today.
This post at Cinematical does a good job of pin-pointing the ones that exist, but there's certainly a real disparity, and it is something I hadn't given
a whole lot of any thought to. There have been lead-ish female roles - EVE and Helen (
Incredibles ma) come to mind - but basically every single one of their movies has has a male main main character.
--- Bloody Strode - The first picture from Rob Zombie's second stab (hardy har) at the Halloween series is
over at STYD. Don't expect a lot of coverage of this film from me, I don't think. Still, maybe he can fix what's broken...? Yeah. Whatever. Maybe he'll at least have the good sense to still melt a nurse in a hot tub.
--- And finally, can somebody pay to send me to Toronto for a month starting mid-March? Edgar Wright, who's up there filming
Scott Pilgrim, is
programming several weeks of double-features at a local cinematheque up there, and it looks as kick-ass as kick-ass gets.

NO NO NO THEY CANNOT REMAKE THE NEVERENDING STORY!
BLASPHEMY!
SACRILEGE!
WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!
My inner 11 year old just died a little bit.
I am for sure hitting the Wright Stuff Kung-Fu double bill. Drunken Master 2 on the big screen! I hope they're not projecting DVDs.
Don't miss your chance to see "The Story of Ricky/Ricky O". It is a masterpiece of WTF! I'd be going to the Wright films too if I didn't already own copies of almost all of them.
I want to see The Story of Ricky quite badly, but it's an hour and a half away and there would be a good chance I'd have to skip the end to catch the bus. Boo hoo.
Maybe the rape of Halloween 2, a film a like quite a bit despite its flaws, will at least prompt a proper DVD release of the original...maybe even blu ray!
@ JA, you can crash on my couch if someone pays up for your trip, since it's for such a good cause.
@ Steven, I know for a fact that they are NOT screening dvds. I hope to be there for most of the screenings!
