Jake & Jimmy!

.

Fiery filmmaker David O. Russell's next flick, called Nailed, already had its main stars awhile back - Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel - and now the cast has begun to fill in further. Via DH:

"James Marsden, Catherine Keener and Tracy Morgan are in final negotiations to star opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel in David O. Russell's romantic comedy "Nailed" says The Hollywood Reporter.

Marsden will play small-town the boyfriend of Biel's character Alice, a naive waitress who gets a nail shot into her head, causing erratic and outrageous behavior.

She heads to Washington to fight for better health care and ends up falling for a clueless new congressman (Gyllenhaal) who must summon the political courage to save her. Keener will play a self-serving Congresswoman.

The filmmakers are finalizing details on Morgan's character, who will likely be an injured compatriot of Alice's who has given up on love.

Penned by Russell and Kristen Gore, the film is now in preproduction in South Carolina. Principal photography is set to begin April 14th."

Blah blah blah, all of these details are flying in one ear and out the other as I picture Jake and Jimmy sharing the screen... I can't even tell from that plot description if they'll be sharing any screentime, but it'd be a waste if not. Nevermind that Biel woman between them!

I''d be remiss if I didn't exclaim happiness at Keener's involvement here as well. But Jake... Jimmy... bliss. Let's hope they don't have to kick Russell's ass.

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but David O. Russell had Jude Law and Mark Wahlberg in his last movie and kept their shirts on them the whole time.

Of course, that movie was also fucking awesome, so I'm nothing short of thrilled for this one.

James Marsden is going to get dumped AGAIN!? WTF?!

WAY OFF TOPIC (though any pictures of Jake and Jim are a welcome treat): Is that Angela Bettis from "May" in your new banner? I loved that film!

Joe - Between now and then I can imagine plenty of scenarios though. On film or behind-the-scenes. And that's sometimes enough.

rj - I know, I thought Jimmy was beyond that stage in his career, moving up to leading man status... but it's with a great director, so maybe it'll be more interesting than just the dumped guy.

pax - Banners and NEVER off-topic. Yeah, it's Bettis from May, and I love that movie too. Picking just one image for a banner was tough.

this has nothing to do with your post, but guess who my new weekly crush is? Joseph Gordon Levitt. He is super hot. Have you seen those new GQ pics? He's like 27 or something too.... so it's not innappropriate like my michael cera crush. Hope you had a good weekend!

Your tags list the wrong James. It says Marsters instead of Marsden.

how does russell keep getting decent actors to work for him after the horror stories from his past films?

Peter, it's probably just that he keeps making smart movies. I think there's probably a lot more abuse behind the scenes of the sort we've seen from Russell than we hear about, and actors are probably willing to deal with someone difficult if it seems to guarantee an interesting role.
