I can't believe it's taken me this long to make a gif out of these delightful images from my favorite part of Sirk's Magnificent Obsession that I posted so many ages ago. Of course now I'm surely going to slip into a coma staring at this on repeat, but there are worse ways to go.

Wasn't this Magnificent Obsession? The one where devil-may-care playboy Rock Hudson is first indirectly responsible for her husband dying (the same husband who's creepily beloved to the ENTIRE population of the town!!) and THEN indirectly responsible for her being hit by this car in hilarious fashion and GOING BLIND as a result.
And yet, for all that, it's a really boring movie and nowhere near as good as All that Heaven Allows.
You're right Graeme, I fixed it. I wasn't thinking, I had it right in my original post that I linked to. Anyway that's a wonderful description of the film! I need to watch some Sirk sometime soon.
Haha! It's even funnier looking at the original post. I was trying to remember just how poor old Rock had got the blame for this accident, forgetting it was because he chased her through a taxi!
Still, you're right about the pleasure of watching Wyman suffer. Having no discernible personality is one thing, but showing such flagrant disregard for basic road safety? She doesn't deserve to HAVE eyes! I was rooting for Rock to get it on with her daughter to really stick the boot in.
Suddenly I want nothing more in this world than a Von Trier remake with a CGI Wyman.
