Harron's Finally Getting Up To Speedman

.
The last time I'd heard anything about The Moth Diaries was in May of last year. Based off a book by Rachel Klein it tells the story of the new girl at a boarding school, the girlfriends she makes, the crush she develops on her hunky teacher, and perhaps spiced up with a whole bunch of sexy lesbianish vampirism. Read more about the story here.

What's been especially exciting about this proposed movie to me is the director that's been attached is Mary Harron, who made American Psycho - swoon - and The Notorious Bettie Page and who does not make enough movies dammit, and the dude attached the play the hunky teacher has been hunky Scott Speedman. Yes, and yes please yes.

So the silence has been sixteen months long but now via STYD we have some more word of its progress. A couple more names have been added to the cast and it really does sound as if the thing's being made. THR says "The Canadian-Irish co-production... is shooting in and around Montreal until Oct. 8." That's like now! So hooray! We could have a new Mary Harron movie - and a horror one at that! With Scott Speedman! - very soon, y'all. Bow chicka wah wah.
