Toilets Humored

I got tagged by the wonderful Kindertrauma the other week to participate in a meme that's going around and it took me a little time to get my shit (ahem) together but my shit (ahem) is now together so here I am, participating.

The meme goes like this (read the original rules here): you pick a bunch of images from a bunch of movies along a common theme, with the intent of finding ones that "stand for so much of what makes Cinema such a rich and exciting medium." There are links to a couple dozen contributors at that second link; people have chosen themes like darkness, shadows, eyes, so on. In other words, there are a lot of pretty pretty pictures being gathered up. You should go see them all! I scanned through all that everybody had gathered in an attempt to find my own common theme and was in awe of all the gorgeous shots and so here we are with my theme:

Toilets!

I think the seed was planted by that shot above from Sleepaway Camp that I grabbed for a "Five Frames From ?" post last week. As well as my need to be all contrarian-like - I see a bunch of people gathering gorgeous shots from films based around poetic themes and when it's my turn... well, I go to shit. Not that a lot of these frames aren't beautiful, in my opinion. They are. Enjoy!

Those films are, from top to bottom: A Single Man, The Conversation, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Psycho, Trainspotting, The Shining, American Psycho, Slumdog Millionaire, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, Lethal Weapon 2, Jarhead, Silence of the Lambs, Full Metal Jacket, Pulp Fiction, Basic Instinct, Eyes Wide Shut, Southland Tales, Smiley Face, Casino Royale, and American History X.

Funny, because just an hour or two ago I was reading about Jean Renoir's first sound film - which apparently involved multiple characters forcing themselves and each other to go to the bathroom. If it's good enough for Renoir...

Thanks for diving in, just like Ewan.

The fifties-ish avocado green bathroom is most awesome. Well, maybe not quite as awesome as the pics of Jamie Bell. Oh - and a happy birthday to the great Anna
