I'm Laughing With You

.
Todd Solondz's new film Life During Wartime (my review) starts playing here in NYC this weekend (and according to a tweet from the IFC Center Solondz and some of the cast will be there for some screenings, but no specifics have shown up on that just yet) as well as being on demand! So you have no excuses not to see it, people. Unless you want to wait for it to come to a town near you, which is an excuse I will accept. Also, herpes. I will accept herpes. (Now that's a sentence.) Anyway! There's a lil' chat with the film-maker at the NYT and he admits a couple of things of interest - how about the fact that Drew Barrymore met with him about making the first Charlie's Angels film? Jinkies, just imagine it. And secondly, the briefest tidbit about what's next!

Mr. Solondz is set to start shooting a film after Labor Day called “Dark Horse.” (He was mum about details.) “Knock wood,” he said, “that it doesn’t fall apart.” Asked if he could imagine quitting movies entirely, as he once did, Mr. Solondz waved dismissively. “No."

The fact that he's working, has something lined up so soon even, is good enough news for me. With someone working at his scale, you never do know what to expect.

I wish he had used the same cast from "Happiness".
