Gratuitous Alain Delon

.

Have no idea or excuses as to what set me off into an Alain Delon mood but off I was all the same and are excuses really necessary when we're talking about one of the most beautiful men ever to have a camera pointed at them? And one seriously underrepresented here at MNPP until now, as well. But I mean if you're gonna complain I could just not post these at all. Get back in your seat or I will turn this car around! What?

You do spoil us you know.

cinemadventurer if you're looking for something truly visually delicious watch "The Leopard" or "The Gattopardo", starring Alain as well as Claudia Cardinale.

That second picture is hot. I wish that you could get The Swimming Pool on DVD and not have to mess with an import. Great movie and Romy Schneider!

in the picture with the cigarette coming out of his mouth, he looks like a young Jon Hamm (or a young Jon Hamm looks like him, as it were).

I'd recommend these Delon films: two gangster/crime films by Jean-Pierre Melville: "Le Samourai" and "Le Cercle Rouge" and Antonioni's "L'Eclisse" starring a very sexy Delon and the awesome Monica Vitti." Great "Gratuitous" post, JA!

cinemadventurer: You have to watch "Plein soleil"/"Purple Noon" which is the original/first Tom Ripley film, long before Matt Damon took on the role. The films are also sufficiently different in terms of story to warrant seeking out the French version. Plus Deloin's shirtless a lot in that movie, which always helps.

Oooh, NOW you're speaking my language...*faints*

ALL of those movies are great suggestions. I also recommend L'Eclisse. I got into a major Alain Delon thing about a year ago, and the sight of him still makes me feel dizzy.

I see a bit of him in Ewan McGregor, whom I also love.

There is no such thing as "gratuitous" Alain Delon. His beauty is one of life's great gifts to us.

You must see Purple Noon and Le Samourai.

I have been swooning over him since puberty.
