I Am Link

.
--- Super Duper Terrible Idea - Oh crap, somebody's gotten it into their head that an American remake of the French horror masterpiece Martyrs needs to be made. (The film was #4 on my favorite films list for 2009) The writer behind the okay terror-in-a-motel movie Vacancy is working on (has already written?) a script. No American movie studio is ever going to go as far as Pascal Laugier did in the original and there is absolutely no point to even making the movie, from where I stand, if one isn't going to go that far. "That far" is the entire point, and without it nothing even makes sense.

--- Nothing Compared To My Tits - Speaking of jackassery in the realm of remakes, somebody's thinking it's a decent idea to be remaking one of my favorite comedies of all-time, Soapdish. I will sick Miss Montana Moorehead on your asses, executives! And then I will plead guilty.... guilty of love, in the first degree!

--- Set Date - Director Mark Romanek announced yesterday that his adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's beautiful piece of fiction Never Let Me Go is finally finished and will be out in October. A trailer will be coming soon. Super crazy looking forward to this movie.

--- Good Eko - Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, esteemed Hawaii hater and carrier of a very large Jesus Stick, has joined the cast of the prequel to The Thing, currently filming.

--- Boxed Siggy - The dude that put Ryan Reynolds in a box and filmed his crotch for two hours (or at least that's how Buried plays in my head, sight unseen) has cast Sigourney Weaver in his next movie, which is about a war between a psychic and a para-psychologist over the way the brain processes information incorrectly. I just made it sound kind of boring - it's actually a thriller, not a treatise on synapse correction of anything. With Siggy!
--- NIN Anon - Hey, remember how there's not supposed to be a thing called Nine Inch Nails anymore? Well here's a new song from this nonexistent band, for the soundtrack to Tetsuo: The Bullet Man.
--- Xenocinema - There's a really fantastic list up this morning at The Film Experience of foreign auteurs that the Oscars have loved the most through the years.
--- It's Got Everything - Evaporating priest zombies who makes women barf up their guts, and maggot hurricanes, equaling everything, of course. I suck for the thousandth time, not doing the Final Girl Film Club, but here's the link where you can hear what everyone had to say about the delightful fun-filled romp known at Fulci's City of the Living Dead.
--- Love This Lady - Here's a terrific interview with a terrific actress, the terrific Ari Graynor.
--- And finally, here's one of like two? three? total images released for Terrance Malick's new movie The Tree of Life, out at some point in human future, probably. (via) Looks unsurprisingly beautifully composed.

A remake of Soapdish? NO.

But I'd donate my brain for transplant surgery to see the original cast back together for a staged reading or something.

That NIN track was so refreshing after hearing the crap coming out of his "new band."
