He Vould Have An Enormous Schwanzstucker

.
Next Thursday, March 18th, marks the 100th anniversary of the very first filmed adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. It was directed by a chap you maybe heard of by the name of Thomas Edison. Besides being the first version of Frank, it's also the very first horror film ever made. And you can watch the sucker right here, right now. (via)

.

.

And while you'll see that version's not in the best shape, THR has word on a book called Edison's Frankenstein about the making of the film, and tells us this:

"In the process [of researching the book], Wiebel discovered the film's one surviving print and arranged for its restoration and release on DVD. In his book, which is available in bookstores, from online sites like Amazon.com or directly from Wiebel at FredWiebel@aol.com, he explains how "Frankenstein" fans can obtain the DVD."
..
So uh that's pretty cool.
