Yay Jaye

.
This news is a few days old but I've gotta post on it. Those of y'all new to here might maybe haven't heard me go on and on (and on, and on) about my adoration of Wonderfalls, the snuffed-out-too-soon 2004 series from Bryan "Pushing Daisies" Fuller. I adored every single frame of that show... problem was, there weren't nearly enough damn frames to savor. The series only lasted 13 episodes, most of which never even aired on TV - it got canned after episode 4. There was much to love very much in the vein of the Daisies to come - the sweet and the savory scraping against each other in melange of flavors that might normally seem ill at ease beside one another but in the wondrous hands of Bryan Fuller turn into something magically delicious. Goofy and lovable and bright and mean, it was a delight for as long as it lasted. And in lead Caroline Dhavernas all these battling instincts found a wonderful foothold. She was as perplexed by the place she found herself as we the viewers were, and she made it a great, weird place to be. The last time I saw Dhavernas was as Ryan Phillippe's wife in Breach, but even in that small role she shone, so I'm very happy to hear this news via TV Guide:

"Wonderfalls' Caroline Dhavernas has been cast as one of the three leads in Off the Map, Shonda Rhimes' new medical pilot for ABC.

Dhavernas, 31, will play Lily, a young doctor who deals with tragedy by moving to a jungle in South America to work in a free clinic.

Working with Lily at the clinic will be Meena, an infectious disease specialist with a shadowy past, and Manny (Without a Trace's Enrique Murciano), an egotistical plastic surgeon. Meena has not yet been cast."

All that raving about Dhavernas aside though, I've never been able to suffer through more than fifteen minutes of any single Grey's Anatomy episode, so we'll take this one as it plays out. But Enrique Murciano is a hot piece so that's anther in the plus column!

I agree that Greys Anatomy gives me hives, HOWEVER the story sounds kind of interesting to me and I LOOOOOVE Dhavernas so incredibly much. I will for sure be checking this out.

I'll watch some for her, because she's awesome, but I doubt I'll like the show itself - which will probably just be GA in Africa, really.

I'm glad she's getting the work, though.

Nooooo! I love Caroline and have been anticipating her return to television ever since Wonderfalls was canceled, but not in a Shonda Rhimes vehicle!
