The Shutter Island Trailer

I wrote up a bunch about my excitement for Martin Scorsese's next film and how kick-ass I think this trailer is over at The Film Experience this morning, so check that. But for now, you can watch the trailer at Apple or at that TFE link, and here are some screen-grabs I took. This looks so wonderful I peed my pants. A lot.

.
That picture of Michelle Williams' floral back in front of the window with that sunset (sunrise?)... one of the prettiest shots of the year already, no doubt. Shutter Island is out on October 2nd.

I've never been a DiCaprio fan, but that trailer got me excited to see it. Thanks, JA!

Your earlier post about this movie was right when I was looking for something new to read so I grabbed this book.

It's interesting, but kind of less than it thinks it is, if that makes sense. I mean, the movie will be pretty and probably suspenseful but if you're anything like me the ending will feel kind of cheap.

Since the ending made me angry I won't be paying to see this. That's what second-run theaters are for!

Wow! I like Lehane and I have tried to read this book twice, only to abandon it as too boring. This makes it look terrific.

Is the back of her dress scorched? It looks burnt; is it from that fire possibly?

It does appear to be, Wayne. In fact, guessing by the other shot in the trailer of Leo in a room of drifting ash while she disappears from his arms I'm guessing it's not just her dress but all of her that's burning away there, and that's a good call, I didn't even notice her back was burnt. I haven't read the book but it seems to me Michelle's character is either a vision or a ghost of a love he's lost due to a fire, it would appear. I'm crazy astute, huh? ;-)

Ehh, looks like another dire, overrated movie from the world's most overrated filmmaker. At least I got a laugh at the sight of a miscast DiCaprio (again!).

Cool trailer, full of clues, some more obscure than is evident...unless, of course, you've read the book, which has a devastating denoument. The twist is just a means of getting there, not an end in and of itself, btw, to those here who seem to think they know it all. Besides, I think Scorsese will have a bit of fun with it and maybe turn it on it's itty bitty head. I roll my eyes at those who can't get over their Pavlovian DiCaprio dissing, btw. Get over it, folks!!! You're so yesterday with that stuff.
