I Smell Romance

.
"I had the time of my lii-ii-ife... and I owe it all to you..."

I think Jason might've fallen under the spell of The Padalecki. Look at that embrace! It's straight outta Brokeback.

Anyway, STYD has got a slew of new pics from the Friday the 13th remake over here if you're so inclined.

But looking at Padalecki up there is giving me nightmare flashbacks to the "performance" his Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles gave in My Bloody Valentine 3D which I saw on Saturday... I know that there's some sort of crazed shrine of worship to these guys online, but... AGH Ackles was so terrifically horrible in MBV3D! So so so very very bad! You know when Kerr Smith is looking like the good actor on-screen that there is a problem. I mean... seriously? Seriously, people? Wow I do not get it. Awful, just awful.

The movie itself was mostly a blast though. My main complaint if I had to make one would be that all the best stuff was in the first 45 minutes or so, and that it just wasn't scary. It was fun as heck and gory and loved all the 3D gags. But the original film legimately frightens me, Harry Warden is a scary fucking fellow, and I never really got that sense of true fear here. But it's worth seeing. In 3D at least. It's eyeball-poppin' fun!

You need to watch this scene with Jensen:

He is phenomenal, one of the best actors on TV right now. He did fine in MBV, but it's not like he had a lot to work with in the confines of this script. This film wasn't about the characters--it was a typical slasher flick focused on the gore. Check out Supernatural, and I think you'll change your mind. He really is very good.

I've heard that Jensen was pretty God-awful in MBV, but he and Jared P have really amazing chemistry on Supernatural, some of the best on TV. I actually think you'd enjoy the show- this season in particular has been great. Besides, any show with Jared, Jensen, and the gorgeous Misha Collins (seriously, google image search that guy pronto!) is bound to be great entertainment.

Yes, no one really had much in terms of character to work with, I will give Mr. Ackles that. But he still managed to be the worst of the bunch. Although the reviewer at the NYT found Kerr Smith the weak link, so perhaps it's a matter of perception. Anyway, nobody was exactly wowing me with their skills... except maybe the naked girl. She gave it her all. But there was a scene in a police station where Kerr and Jensen faced off across the table in an interrogation room and I couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of this Acting Face-Off For The Ages that decidedly wasn't. ;-)

When it comes to which Supernatural actors I find most physically attractive, Padalecki is much more my type, so I have slightly higher hopes for enjoying at the very least the experience of staring at him in Friday the 13th.

Type? Some things just aren't subjective. That dude's beautiful, and I'm straight.

Do. Not. Understand how "Supernatural" gets love. Every week I try to see what others see and I always give up by the second commercial break.

It seems like the fan base is all about how hot the leads are, but by that metric, "Charmed" was watchable, and it so totally wasn't.

Oh dear God. I just realized that there mught be a substantial number of women out there even more shallow than I am. That can't be.

Betsy "Naked Girl" Rue was fantastic.

I decided last night that I'm going to go through the entirety of Supernatural from the beginning. I have my reasons, and none of them have to do with the alleged hotness of the leads.

Haven't seen MBV yet, but I'm don't like hearing that Jensen was bad. I've never really seen him be bad in anything.

As for Supernatural...I just started getting into it over the summer (repeats) and then went out and rented all of the previous seasons and now I'm obsessed. Kinda bummed that I've missed out on it all these years. The guys are both hot as hell, but I swear I'd love the show even if they were ugly. =) It's just well written. The writers are extremely clever and Jared & Jensen are perfect together.

As a former casual-ish fan of SPN (boyfriend continues to be OBSESSED with it, even though it hasn't been bearable in years), I can tell you that Jensen was legitimately fantastic. He never had much to work with, but so frequently somehow injected heart and genuine pathos into some pretty silly writing. Post season four, Supernatural has become ever more unwatchable. Now it's in season 600 or something, and is hilariously bad. Where hilarious = emotionally scarring.

Oh CW, you really do earn all of that contempt.

However, I recently saw Jensen in MBV and HOLY SHIT NO. What happened?! I swear to you, the man can act - but for some reason he chose not to do so at any point in that film. He was terrible. I've also seen snippets of post season five SPN, and Jensen seems to be getting worse and worse. He needs to quit that show pronto before he loses all of his once impressive range. Jared never seems to get any worse or better, but if he out acts Jensen in anything, it is a sure sign of the end times.
