Happy 66, Roger Ebert

Wishing a very very very happy birthday to the man who convinced me at age 5 that I wanted to be a movie reviewer, Roger Ebert. Hope you're doing well, Rog!

A related sidenote: I saw Werner Herzog's terrific new documentary, Encounters at the End of the World, last night - Herzog movies are just varying degrees of great (I've never seen a bad one); Encounters was wonderfully funny and suprisingly moving, and leave it up to him to take on the unfairly ignored plight of the deranged penguin - and it was dedicated to Ebert. The two have a long friendship, apparently; Here's a letter Roger wrote to Werner after discovering the dedication that's as touching as anything the man's ever written.
