Lies! That's what!
BD has got the teaser-poster for M. Night Shyamaylan's next flick, The Happening, and it troubles me that they're not being totally forthcoming with it. Here's the original (click to embiggen so you can read the type):
I know the type is small; the tagline goes "We've Sensed It. We've Seen The Signs. Now... It's Happening." Um, I think you're forgetting a couple of somethings there, Marketing People!
So I went ahead an doctored the poster so it doesn't forget a smidge o' Shyamalan. Again, click it to embiggen:

GODDAMMIT. Fine. I even like Unbreakable; quite a lot. Man I'm a tard.
Anyway....
I just did the world's most half-assed job of fixing it. Yay me!
He he, I needed a good laugh...though, the Village doesn't bother me nearly as much as it does some (including the entire theater of people who watched it with me and proceeded to sigh and laugh when it ended...).
What impressed me about The Village was the idea that there was a community of adults who were willing to cause terrible harm to their own children in order to make themselves feel better. That was the twist for me: evil, evil, evil parents.
I haven't seen it since the first time in the theater - even though I bought the DVD - but I actually really liked The Village that first time, and think it gets a bad rap. It's got some amazing camera-work going on; not that anyone really argues Shyamalan's problem is with his technical proficiency, but he is really, really excellent at setting up a scare.
Yeah, I think the ideas and the setup for The Village are better than the final product, but I don't hate it anywhere near as much as others. Same goes for The Lady in the Water and I have no shame whatsoever about loving Signs and The Sixth Sense. Unbreakable, to me, was dull as dishwater and couldn't stand it. Funny how things work out, huh?
Still, do you reckong the poster designers realised what they did with the tagline? I'd love it if it were just some sort of big coincidental accident.

M Night Shamalamadingdong used to interest me until I read the story about him moving his film Lady In The Water from Disney to WB. He is among the most arrogant people I have ever read about.
I didn't care for The Sixth Sense, but I loved Unbreakable. Liked Signs and even liked The Village.
So is this poster suggesting that this movie is some how a sequel to The Sixth Sense and Signs?
Putting those two movies together, Piper, to create a common story is giving me a migraine. Ghost aliens who tutor little boys and then exhale poison gas fumes and explode when swimming... no, no I don't think they could be related.
But now I hope that they are!
