--- Seven Fucking Days - That's how long we have to wait until The Mist rolls ashore, and I for one am so excited I might suffocate myself. There are only a couple other movies - stay tuned later today for a related list! - still coming out this year that even come close to the anticipation I have for Frank Darabont's adaptation of Stephen King's masterful monster story. Harry at AICN stokes my flame by reviewing The Mist today, and says:

"It’s classic old school B-horror… and after a decade or two of slasher horror, self-referential smug horror, shitty vampire flicks, the advent of the torture porn genre, the J-horror and its remake off-shoots and then the million Zombie movies… to finally see a horror movie that is just an honest to goodness evil monster last-stand movie is bliss."

"Jane will make his feature directing debut on The Dark Country, a noir thriller that is being shot in 3-D high definition, as well as 2-D high-def... From a script by Tab Murphy ("Tarzan"), the thriller concerns a couple who find their honeymoon to be a hellish adventure. Pic has just begun shooting in Albuquerque, N.M... --- And finally, y'all have been checking out Final Girl this week, correct? Stacie's got her Theme Week on, checking out some flicks from the House of Amicus each day. Here's how Stacie describes Amicus:
"For those of you not in the know, Amicus Productions was a British film company, perhaps best known for their anthology movies throughout the 60s and 70s- films such as The House That Dripped Blood, From Beyond the Grave, and many, many more.
Basically, if you're watching a British horror movie from that time period, ask yourself: "Is this film gothic-flavoured?" If the answer is "Why, golly, yes!", then you're most likely watching a Hammer film. If, however, you answer "Oh my heavens, no!", then that's an Amicus film, son!"
