The Dark Is Rising Poster

Dunno how I missed this scanning through Electronic Cerebrectomy earlier today, but tis the poster for the first adaptation from Susan Cooper's wonderful series The Dark Is Rising:

And Aaron, let me answer your question here, with regards to not having read the book and if it will be any good: if it manages to be even half as good as the books, then it'll be a classic. And hopefully it'll be better than that Lion, Witch, Wardrobe snoozefest!

But it's Fox. It might be doomed before it even had a chance. Look at Eragon!

OMG my new plaid pants are now moist with excitement :) This was by far my favourite kids book. It is a brilliant coming of age story and filled with mysterious British lore and legend. I so wanted to be Will Stanton and hoped that when I turned 11 I would find out I too was an old one :) The dark is rising is in fact the second book in the series (I believe) so I hope it doesn't go the way of the awful Disney Lion witch wardrobe fiasco.

JD - Haven't read them, but aren't the Eragon books supposed to suck? I mean, the first thing that popped into my head, looking at this poster, was Eragon, they're looking kinda similar marketing-wise, which scares me, but the source material here is (supposedly, again I can't say how awful the Ertagon books are since I haven't read them, but that seems the general critical consensus, while Susan Cooper's books I have read, loved, and they won heaps for literary honors back in the day) much stronger so they'd have to actively work at it to mae these suck, I think.

samurai - I thought the youngest girl in narnia was terrific, and Tilda... well Tilda always rocks. And I liked whatshisname, McAvoy, as the Faun. But I was never a fan of Narnia in the first place - the Jesus stuff is WAY too much. I'll take the His Dark Materials, atheist-POV up much much quicker to my bosom.

Um, who is that cute guy on the bottom right of the poster????

I think that's Gregory Smith, who plays Max (main character Will's older brother) in the movie; he was the main kid in that TV show Everwood which I never watched. I think it's him, it's hard to tell. Here's another pic.

Never read the Eragon books. Never wanted to, but what I've heard they're okay. The movie (without having seen it) sucks out loud. Which would mean if The Dark is Rising is excellent, then the film(s) will be mediocre...? I think. Fox is weird.

(And from Friday night to Monday morning, are you cryogenically frozen, or in a Dracula-type hibernation in a giant wooden coffin?)

I'm dipped in liquid chocolate every Friday afternoon, which is then cooled into a brittle, me-shaped shell. It takes me three days to eat my way free.

Of course... it all makes sense now...

so-called "josh" poster has made the same post other places using the name nick and kaleb and bugbug (something like that). He/she is spamming for that MTV website he keeps pushing.
