I Have A Problem

.
I have seen Twister probably 20 times.

And whenever it's on TV - like last night - I watch it again.

I can't stop myself. I need help.

Perhaps hypnosis. Or some kind of psychotropic drug.

I'd like to be shocked. To exclaim "you freak" or somesuch...

BUT I of course have my own vortices of cinematic shame. Like Soapdish (a movie I don't even like but can never stop watching) and things like Fried Green Tomatoes and Steel Magnolias...

But the sickest thing is: I don't think I'd opt for treatment...

Oh god, Soapdish is another one... though I feel less guilty about that, and could quote it til the cows come home ("I'm guilty of love... in the first degree!").

Dunno what it is about Twister that sucks me in every single time... I do love a cheesy disaster flick, though.

"Hi, I'm Bill Paxton and nothing scares me more than color!"

Hee! I think of that every time I watch the movie too!

D and I went to the Twister ride at Universal again last year and it's not nearly as ridiculous as I'd built it up to be in my mind, but it is still pretty silly.

[end inside joke]

Oh god, I grew up in the time when Summer movies (Winter for us) were all about natural disasters and not d-grade superheroes. I'm so glad.

I have way too fond a feelings for Twister and Deep Impact.
