News comes via DH that the creator or the TV show Prison Break - proving once and for all he's got a prison fetish - has plans to remake the German film Das Experiment for us yeehaw Americans.
Why the subject matter was dealt with in Germany before here seems strange as first - the film told the story of the Standford Prison Experiment, or at least a fictionalized telling of it, which was a very American event indeed - but then not so strange, when you think about how Germany's got a bit of a history, ahem, with the corruption that power can bring, and especially in relation to scientific experimentation and brute force.
Anyhoo, I liked Das Experiment, thought it probed the sordid tale pretty effectively, and think a remake's a swell idea.
Under one circumstance: they cast Moritz Bleibtreu again! Oh Moritz!
Moritz is probably best known as Manni, Lola's boyfriend in Run Lola Run. Or maybe you know him as my imaginary German boyfriend. Either way, I've been crushing on Moritz for years, and he's taken to doing English-language films lately (he was in Munich), so he should be cast in this remake. And here's how I argue best: with a fun pictorial! He is so adorable.
