Montgomery Clift Eight Times

.

(click to embiggen) According to Tumblr, which is where I saw these over the weekend, these shots were taken by Roddy McDowell. Otherwise known as The Man With The Greatest Life Of All Time. I hope they go ahead and publish his diary sooner than the rumored one hundred years - everybody that would actually care about what you have to say will be long dead by then! Although they do say that the first person to live to be 200 is already alive today, so fingers crossed! I'll totally spend 100 plus years in decrepit misery just for the shot at Roddy's scribblings about Monty & Friends pervy lives.

These are the first photos I've seen of him that do justice to how handsome and downright hot he was, which you get from his movies but not his stills. Awesome!

CLIFT LOOKS TORMENTED, LIKE A WOUNDED BIRD, VULNERABLE, IN NEED OF BEING TAKEN CARE OF, FRAGILE, DELICATE. MAYBE THAT WAS HIS APPEAL- HE DOES NOT LOOK WELL. TROUBLE WAS, AS A LOT OF HIS FRIENDS FOUND OUT HE WAS BEYOND HELP- BUT HE SILL MAKES YOU FEEL YOU WANT TO TRY. I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HOT ABOUT A WOUNDED LITTLE BOY LOST. STILL HE WAS APPEALING IF YOU WANTED TO MOTHER HIM AND TAKE CARE OF HIM- BUT WOULD HE ALLOW IT?

Recommended reading Queer Star, Montgomery Clift by Elisabetta Girelli will clear up all misconceptions of Clift being "pervy". I think a kinder way to say it was he was a very troubled, tormented, strange individual- but don't sensationalise or sexualize human pain and misery. There's not one of us escapes this life without suffering. Have some empathy for the very obvious torment of this enormously gifted man.
