Candyman: They will say that I have shed innocent blood.
What's blood for, if not for shedding?
Director Bernard Rose's wonderful horror classic, an adaptation of the story "The Forbidden" from Clive Barker's Books of Blood, turns 20 years old today. Rose's career hasn't been what I've wanted it to be - with this film and with the marvelous Paperhouse, I've always wanted much more scariness. That said his career, period, hasn't been what I've wanted from him - I haven't heard squat about the majority of what he's been doing since 1994's Immortal Beloved. Anyone seen any of his other films? It seems to move in fits and starts - he's currently in a fit, with four movies listed for this year and next but again, I know nothing about any of them. Anyway you can read a great article on Candyman over at The Playlist.
