Today I'd rather be...
... in the army with Aldo.
Aldo Ray was born on this day 86 years ago.
We previously appreciated him in this post.
See a few more after the jump!
"Thanks for mentioning Stockard Channing in Six Degrees. One of my favorite performances ever, and it seems like it's been mostly forgotten. "
"THANK YOU for pointing out Stockard Channing in Six Degrees. Severely underrated movie and performance. She was robbed of that Oscar. "--- Anon #1 and Anon #2 agree with my pick of Miss Channing's unbeatable Ouisa Kittredge as one of the shoulda-won's at the Oscars in my list of my ten favorite Oscar-losing Best Actresses. She is a collage of unaccounted for brush strokes - she is all random.

Yes Aldo was quite the tasty dish. TCM played several of his movies today in honor of his birthday. One of them Let's Do It Again! with Jane Wyman was in technicolor and had Aldo all duded up in tight suits, along with that voice it was quite a swoony experience.
Loved the Marrying Kind. I thought it was a very good depiction of a struggling marriage and Judy Holliday is always brilliant the fact that Aldo was so hunky was just a bonus. As an aside but sort of related since it has to do with Ruth Gordon who wrote the movie have you never seen The Actress with Jean Simmons and Spencer Tracy? It's based on Ruth's bio of her youth.
THAT VOICE! THAT HAIRY CHEST! So yummy.
