--- Franco Serenade - Over at Rolling Stone my bud Sean got to talk to James Franco about his, er, music career. He's collaborated with another dude to form a group called Daddy, and their album drops next week. You can see a video at that link as well. James wisely embraces our universal skepticism.
--- Onward Edward - The "Random Roles" series at The AV Club - wherein they get an actor's opinions on a random selection from his or her career - is always a delight and this one with the actor Edward Hermann is no different - his memories of Maureen Stapleton, especially her literal stalking of Joel McCrea, are priceless. (thx Andreas)
--- Bittersweet Remake - I know that I saw the 2005 Korean gangster flick A Bittersweet Life - it's from Kim Jee-woon, the director of I Saw the Devil, and stars my long-time crush Lee Byung-hun, so of course I did. But my memories are vague. I was watching a lot of Korean flicks at that time and they were all about the same kind of thing. Anyway Albert Hughes is going to remake it here. He should have it star Lee Byung-hun again! So I can stare at him some more.
--- Fang Vision - I'd heard a lot of middling things about Guillermo Del Toro's vampire book series The Strain so I hadn't picked it up - I figured I'd wait until all the books were out and see what the final consensus was; are they all out yet? Well FX has scooped up the rights and they're gonna turn it into a TV show. Guillermo's promising to be hands on, even directing the pilot, because apparently he has cloned himself and can literally do fifteen things at once.
--- Water Works - Mondo is doing a line of Universal Monsters movie posters (cue squeal) and the first one for Creature From the Black Lagoon is pretty goshdarned sweet.
--- Master Speaks - Well there aren't many more people I'd want this kind of advice from - FSR has six film-making tips from director Paul Thomas Anderson. (By the way, not that anybody's noticed, but I gotta see The Master a second time before I write anything about it. It seems to have paralyzed my already comically limited critical capabilities.).
