The Best Entrance Of 2010, Already

If you follow me on Twitter then you maybe might've gotten an inkling of my (man)reaction to Michael Fassbender in Andrea Arnold's new movie Fish Tank, which I saw last evening. It sorta spouted outta me Tourettes-like, it did. I don't want to short-change the film in any way here, I loved the movie itself outside of gratuitous concerns and will hopefully write up a proper-like review when I can. But for now, I just need to give a little love to the scene where we are introduced to Fassbender's character Connor. Our main character, Mia (played with already-heralded-and-rightfully-so nerve by newcomer Katie Jarvis), is dancing in the kitchen in the flat she shares with her mother and younger sister in the morning, when Mom's new boy-toy Connor appears...

... and the tragedy writes itself from there, don't it? If by "tragedy" you mean "unfettered hotness-palooza," which I obviously do.

There's more from the film to share but that'll have to get its due in due-time, once the film's actually open and y'all get the opportunity to see it for yourselves. It gets spoilery from there on out if we're talking gratuities and it really is a great. great film that I command each and everyone of you to attend, post-haste, once you can. It opens here in NYC in one week, and presumably will crawl outwards from there... I've gotta see it again since I'm fairly certain I blacked out for several minutes following a couple of moments. I mean, Jesus.

Oh, and yes, Michael Fassbender was there at the screening I attended last night and he is everything I wanted him to be and more (although like with most actors I do wish he could dress himself properly). Charming as hell, with that enormous smile of his that spreads out Cheshire-Cat-like and that sing-songy Irish accent of his (he even said "arse"!) making his every word melodious... oh I just want to gobble him right up! And obviously it's flown right past the point of me embarrassing myself when talking about him - it's into full-blown Jake-territory at this point. Complete obsession. He is made of win.

You were there, Michael? Well hello through time and across the room then. ;-)

Wasn't she a hoot? Drunk (admittedly) and jet-lagged and rambling as hell but very very funny and a very talented woman. Loved her too.

Perhaps you should add him to the "Unhealthy Obsessions" column of your blog?
