The news that Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law will be shooting scenes as other versions of Heath Ledger's character in Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassas was officially confirmed by the movie's producers today. Gilliam had this to say:
"I am delighted that Heath's brilliant performance can be shared with the world... We are looking forward to finishing the movie and, through the film, with a modicum of humility, being able to touch people's hearts and souls as Heath was able to do."
There's going to be a level of attention paid attention to Parnassas, for unfortunate reasons of course, that Gilliam's films don't usually get, so I hope Gilliam knocks this one outta the park.
ETA There's also an article on director Christopher Nolan from yesterday's NYT up at their website in which Nolan discusses the challenges that The Dark Knight is facing, post-Ledger's demise.
